Pinchbeck Elementary PTA
Rays Reaching Out
to others in our School, our Community, our Nation and our World!

Due to the incredible amount of support we received from our Pinchbeck community this past year, the SCA and PTA are joining efforts again this year to bring opportunities for community service projects to our Pinchbeck families. Specific details for each project will appear in the PTA Weekly News as we approach the date of the project. We’re sending this message early because two of this year’s service projects include the collection of school supplies and now is a great time to pick up school supplies while they’re on sale.

Participation in Rays Reaching Out service projects is totally optional.  We hope to have the full calendar of projects established by the beginning of the school year so that our Pinchbeck families can look over the projects and decide which, if any, they would like to support.

September
School supply drive for Laburnum Elementary School

Laburnum ES is a Henrico County Public School with an enrollment of 600+. They have a great need for pencils, glue sticks, crayons and pocket folders.  They also have a need for backpacks. If you have a gently-used backpack we will be happy to collect it as well.

November
Support our Service Men and Women & Children in War-torn Areas AdoptaPlatoon & Operation Crayon
(www.adoptaplatoon.org, see “Campaigns” for information on Operation Crayon)

We will be participating in Operation Crayon (in conjunction with AdoptaPlatoon).  We will collect Crayons (24 count boxes), pens & pencils.  These items will be shipped to a unit in either Iraq or Afghanistan – we’ll receive the location information in October.  The unit will then give these items to children at that location.

Thank you for your very generous support last year! We look forward to another wonderful year of Reaching Out to others!
